Webinar: CGM in Real Time Nursing with an Introduction to HCL

In 2022 NICE updated their guidance for people living with type 1 and type 2 diabetes on the use of Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM). There has also been emerging advancements in the way the insulin therapy is utilised, such as connected smart insulin pens, and most recently hybrid closed loop therapy.

The introduction of diabetes technology has helped to provide a number of people living with the condition but also creates an increasing need to upskill our healthcare workforce working in both primary and secondary care.

This interactive session will provide education about diabetes technologies and what registered nurses need to know to provide effective support.

The session will help you to:

  • Understand what CGM is.

  • Identify the benefits of using CGM in comparison to finger prick testing.

  • Identify who can use CGM.

  • Understand the different types of CGM.

  • Learn the key safety considerations for using CGM.

  • Learn about connected Smart Insulin Pen devices.

  • Learn about the concept of time in range.

  • Understand the basics of reviewing sensor glucose data.

  • Understand the basics of hybrid closed loop therapy.
