Updated: ‘Implementing Glucose Sensing in Primary Care'
We are pleased to announce that all the modules in our ‘Implementing Glucose Sensing in Primary Care’ online education package have been updated. The package now includes a new Dexcom ONE+ module and new case studies.
The education package is a FREE online resource for healthcare professionals in primary care, endorsed by the Primary Care Diabetes Society (PCDS) and Diabetes Technology Network (DTN-UK). The education package consists of five key education elements to help primary healthcare professionals increase their knowledge and confidence around Constant Glucose Monitoring (CGM):
1. Initial conversation piece and detailed core knowledge
2. Product training for Abbott and Dexcom
3. Case studies for type 1 and type 2 diabetes
4. Implementation Toolkit
5. DTN-UK
‘Implementing Glucose Sensing in Primary Care’ was developed by EDEN in response to National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidance, which recommends access to CGM for all people living with type 1 diabetes and for some people living with type 2 diabetes.
This means that many people throughout the UK will have access to such technology, with many prescriptions coming from Primary Care. As with all changes in practice, knowledge and confidence for health professionals to safely implement and support these technologies are essential.
