Diabetes education and safety in care homes
We are really excited to offer you the opportunity to join this free CPD accredited educational webinar
Consisting of panel discussions with UK key opinion leaders and accompanying educational resources, it aims to support healthcare professionals to provide best practice and ultimately better patient care and outcomes.
Our aim is to highlight the importance of diabetes education for safety in care homes
Presently 25% of all service users in care homes have diabetes. This number, which is expected to increase significantly, leads to increased demand for health and social care and increased prevalence of complications, infections and hospitalisation rates.
It is essential to improve and optimise standards of diabetes care, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic where mortality is high among people living with diabetes and service users living in care home settings. Education to increase knowledge and confidence and improve standards is more critical than ever.
This session, delivered by healthcare professionals with expertise in diabetes, will discuss issues of diabetes care in the care home setting and the impact that educating staff can have upon standards of care for service users with diabetes through a comprehensive training programme.
